Excel Online

Connect ExtractDB to Microsoft Excel Online and export AI chat tables to your workbooks.

Excel Online Integration

Turn AI chat tables into new rows in your Excel Online workbooks — without copy-paste or manual cleanup.

This integration is coming soon in the extension. You can set it up now; export will be available in an upcoming release.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have:

  1. A Microsoft account with OneDrive access.
  2. At least one .xlsx workbook stored in OneDrive.
  3. The ExtractDB extension installed on your browser.
  4. An active ExtractDB license (Excel Online is a paid integration).

Connection Steps

Connect Excel Online in ExtractDB

  1. Open the ExtractDB extension popup.
  2. Activate your license key if you have not already.
  3. Find the Excel Online card.
  4. Click Connect Excel Online.
  5. Sign in with your Microsoft account when the OAuth popup appears.

Grant permissions

Allow ExtractDB to access your Microsoft account with these permissions:

  • Read and write your files — to list workbooks and append rows.
  • Read your profile — to confirm which account is connected.

Verify connection

Once connected, you should see a success message and a Connected via Microsoft status on the Excel Online card.

Exporting data

Click Export on a chat message

  1. Open a supported AI chat and get a structured response (table, headings with lists, or nested headings).
  2. Click the ExtractDB button next to the message's Copy button.

Select the detected table

  1. In the export modal, select the table structure you want from the content tree.
  2. Choose Excel Online from the destination dropdown.

Pick workbook and worksheet

  1. Select the Workbook (.xlsx file in OneDrive) you want to write to.
  2. Select the Worksheet (tab) within that workbook.
  3. ExtractDB reads the header row (row 1) to load your column names.

Map fields and export

  1. Review the auto-mapped fields — adjust any mismatches manually.
  2. If your sheet is missing columns, use Create missing columns to add headers before exporting.
  3. Click Export to append the rows to your worksheet.

Features

  • Row appending: New exports are added as rows at the bottom of your worksheet.
  • Smart mapping: Source fields are matched to your column headers automatically.
  • Missing column creation: Add new headers to your sheet when the AI table has extra fields.
  • OneDrive sync: Changes appear in Excel Online and sync across your devices.

Troubleshooting

  • Authentication popup blocked: Allow popups for the extension, or disable other extensions that interfere with OAuth windows.
  • Workbook not listed: Only .xlsx files in OneDrive appear. Upload your file to OneDrive if it is stored locally.
  • Permission denied: You need edit access to the workbook. Check sharing settings in OneDrive or SharePoint.
  • Empty columns after export: Verify field mappings point to the correct header names in row 1.
  • Connection failed: Disconnect and reconnect Excel Online from the extension popup.

Privacy: Your Microsoft OAuth token is stored locally on your device. ExtractDB only accesses workbooks you select during export and communicates directly with Microsoft's Graph API.
